Recreates the protocol used to evaluate soft armor panels: clay backing, impact at reference velocity and measurement of the indentation.

Layers

01 · MOUNT

On modeling clay.

The panel is strapped to a block of clay that records any indentation transmitted through the armor.

02 · IMPACT

At reference velocity.

Each caliber is fired at the velocity defined by the standard. Energy is calculated as ½·m·v²: up to 1,483 J with .44 Magnum.

03 · MEASURE

The clay tells the truth.

The panel is removed and the depth of the indentation in the clay (back-face deformation) is measured. The reference standard allows a maximum of 44 mm.
